Hello everyone!
I know that it has been a looooong time since I've updated this blog and there has been so much happening since my long drive back to Iowa. I spent the my last week in SC showing my grandparents and sister around my favorite places in Cola and Chucktown. We ate at my favorite restaurants, shopped in the old slave market, walked on the beautiful beaches, and visited HCF to take tours and so that they could see where I had been working during my time in down south. After they left I made the long, beautiful drive back to Iowa. There is something about driving in the mountains that you just have to love and after spending my first day on the road in tree-covered, green, winding, roads the flat, straight interstates of Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa were a sure sign that I was back in the mid-west.
I wasn't back in Iowa for long though because I was off to NYC for a week of working at Windmill Studios. My brother and his two partners are working incredibly hard to get their studio in tip-top shape and I was lucky enough to be a part of it! I know that I already told you folks most of this in my previous post but the week I spent in NYC was so FANTASTIC. I worked all day with my brother and and then spent the nights just enjoying family time and the city. There is something magical about the dirty, noisy, crowded city that I absolutely love. I also got to see my friend/old roommate Shaina while I was there which was one of the highlights. Shaina has been living and dancing in Israel for the past year-ish and it was great to get to catch up.
After NYC I was planning on going to Wisconsin to help clean up after the storm but there was just no way that I'd be able to do that and be ready for recruitment so I headed back to Iowa City for my last week-ish of summer and some time with my family and friends in IC although most of my time consisted of unpacking, organizing and repacking for school/recruitment.
Recruitment went so well! I was incredibly impressed with all of my sisters and their hard work throughout the two long weeks. We basically had a new recruitment this year and despite my nerves about some things, everything came together really well! The decorations and house looked beautiful each day and pref night was by far the best i'd ever seen the house look. Lauren Emily did a fantastic job with the floral arrangements and everyone worked really hard to make things special for the night.
That brings us just about to now, I am back in school at Iowa State University of Science and Technology and the semester is in full swing.
